Having been in EVE’s financial markets for over 6 years I can say that yes….large scale financial undertakings were very common in the past. They are less common now because people recognize the responsibility and commitment that comes with them combined with higher barriers posed by a very mature null sec population. 6 years ago EVE was more of the Wild West. Think of it as the creep of globalization slowly drying up the opportunities for small business.
I can talk about stock markets this coming weekend. As a bonus, I’ll talk about the Dutch East India Trading company too. =P
